Zarby drummer v1.0 v1.1
By herve delacouturiere
massive clone for Battery
this massive clone is born to control battery
each sequencer have a random play and send his midi cc ( with an amount )
let's say that the higher seq is also for midi cc ( 14 15 and 16 )
so play like u want but snapshots are not changed from the massive ancestor ,so not really matched with several battery kits
therefore i made snap/isolate the three last seq's destination because many kits are config like this ( C1 = bd ; D1 = sn ; d#1 = hh )
i have "tasted" it in ableton live without pb de tempo !! ( tracks demo are just made with one snap and random )
so rolllll it
thx to all the community ;)

this looks really neat. looking forward to trying it out later on - thanks for this!
g.
supposing this works, this could be the very thing that has been missing. i've been looking for the awesome sequencer with triplets rolls etc forever.
also, could anyone possibly instruct in so many words how to maybe hook this up to a sampler (for example the AB99, or any of james walker hall's samplers) within the reaktor world?!!
if this is possible, my frusterations are finished.
Thanks a lot, Herve Delacouturiere, this looks very very nice!
@Richard: just open AB99 in Reaktor, click on the background, choose the AB99 in the ensemble structure-view (you'll see then) by clicking and save it with right-click as an instrument.
Then open Zarby drummer, click again on the background-panel (which isn't part of the ensemble itssel) to get to the ensemble-structure-view, right click to be able to choose insert instrument/open - then browse to where you saved the AB88.ins and open it. Hook its outputs (labelled L and R on its right side) to one of the channels of the audio-output (if you have a stereo-soundcard obviously 1 and 2 then) and click again on the background panel to switch back to the panel view where you'll see the GUIs of Zarby drummer and AB99 now. In Zarby choose as an OUTput InternalMidi and then AB99. Press play. Hope this was clear.
Somehow's my ableton-setup not working properly, on mac osx with live6 and on windows with live5, had similar issues with the massive-clone for battery someone else was posting here some time ago:
1. midi-track: reaktor
2. midi-track: battery, changing input: midi1 (reaktor), choosing 'reaktor' and not post/pre-fx
3. switching from 'auto' to 'in', but battery doesn't receive any midi-signal,
4. on your ensemble external midi out on all channels is active
any hints?
there's a thread on the ableton's forum and followed the instructions but it simply doesn't work. any ideas?
thanks thomas. really i didn't plan on it being THAT easy. this really is an awesome seq and it is WITHOUT a doubt what i have been missing in my arsenal. i really enjoy using the table rather than sequencing drums on the Ableton Grid.
Herve, you will recieve the "You Da Man" award tonight.
there are some issues, as chris has explained however, so this is obviously a work in progress; maybe the forum can be consulted? i would see this becoming what many would prefer to the other sequencers as it is the ONLY one that can do triplets over straight meters without a headache of rewiring.
as for using this without battery, as i plan to, i might do a hardwire version, since there seems to be glitching when the volume knobs are adjusted, and controller #s 18 19 21 & 22 are tweakin out on the AB99
Chris, on a Mac you might need to update to Live 7.10.
ALSO make sure you use the vst version NOT the AU version.
and yes, other question should be on the Reaktor Forum.
i hope to try this upload in the next few days
Well done Mr. Delacouturiere! A lot of TRUE broken beat fun to be had with this combination of Ni products.
Between this and the recent Bernd Keil remix of 'Lime Lite original' looks like I will be 'beating off' quite a bit this weekend :)
Thanks for sharing this 'mod' and your hard work.
Hey bro again, I have decided after several hours of good clean machine fun that this is actually an INSANELY SUPERB! remix/new tool.
The combination of select/modified Battery kits and your 'extraction' of the excellent 'Massive' sequencer PLUS your sensibilities for a more 'jazzy random improv' approach is turning out to blow my mind!
Again, thanks :)
thx for comments :)
but it was not really hard work just a mix of massive and SQ8
BTW the idea was to have a very neat interface and a wider field for feeling expression..
i tried with SQ8 first ( with quintuplet and "septolet" ) but didn't manage to finish it
i have just tested this with Memory Drum, and it works a treat:-)
i am looking forward to using this with Battery 3 in Kore.
thanks for this upload which is very useful and it works!
i have never commented on a ens before, but i just had to on this one. this is by far the best ensemble i have ever used. it is totally inspirational! I hate the sequencer in Ableton so now I dont have to use it again. THANK YOU SOOO MUCH!
have tried on ableton 7 - perfect!very useful thing!
Very cool, I love the idea of this. But can someone tell me how to get straight 4/4 linear left to right timing on the tracks? CC21 for instance, seems to have totally spastic rhythm and I can find no way to control it so it plays straight like CC22.
yes it's because of random playback
each sequencer have a random playback located at it's right (under the knob called amount for CC )
for instance try the last preset #88 ; every seq is straight :)
I always wanted to have something like this! Great, thank you very much. I use it to control an external drumdevice (Addictive Drums) and the random function comes great for jazzy random ghostnotes. I use it in acid 6 and everything works flawless.
Finally rrrrolllls. Great!
